I’m delighted to be co-hosting this year’s Women in Digital event in Leeds on 19 June, along with my colleague Cheryl Stevens.
The event is already sold out, which is fantastic, and I’m really looking forward to the day.
Encouraging practical actions and conversation
The theme of Women in Digital this year is helping more women get into senior digital roles. This is something I take very seriously in my role as Health & Working Age Digital Director.
There are lots of brilliant women doing great work in my team, in DWP and elsewhere across digital government, but it’s vital that we see more and more women moving into leadership positions.
In the year to November 2018, 66% of successful candidates for senior roles in DWP Digital were women. So we're making progress with this but there's much more still to do.
I’m hopeful that Women in Digital can help facilitate conversation and practical actions on this theme, as well as encourage a shift in behaviour around gender bias.
It’s set to be an inspirational day, and I’m pleased to reveal the full agenda for the event.
